Organisation Introduction

The VARTA Strorage GmbH (VS) is a subsidary company of the VARTA AG with main focus on the production and development of Energy Storage Systems.

VARTA AG produces and markets a comprehensive battery portfolio from micro batteries, household batteries, energy storage systems to customer-specific battery solutions for a variety of applications and, as a technology leader, sets industry standards in important areas. As the parent company of the group, it operates in the business segments “Lithium-Ion Solutions & Microbatteries” and “Household Batteries”. The VARTA AG Group currently employs almost 4,600 people. With five production and manufacturing facilities in Europe and Asia as well as sales centers in Asia, Europe and the USA, the operating subsidiaries of VARTA AG are currently active in over 75 countries around the world.

VARTA – Storage has substantial know-how in the field of energy storage by using long-life lithium-ion batteries and conducts in this context innovative research and development activities. The reason of VS being one of the top 5 manufacturer in Germany. Currently VARTA Storage offers several small-scale battery storage systems for residential-, as well for commercial use.

Why: our participation to AccCellBaT

Providing latest technology with highest product maturity at lowest costs to VS customers is the key enabler to be competitive to all non-European stationary battery system provider. VS will use the results to accelerate its digital development of stationary storage systems and power pack solutions to ensure quicker time to market and lower development costs. Further, by implementing the confidence index evaluation the product maturity shall be improved from first day of development. This has a direct impact on the VS strategy, sales figures and future turn-over. Providing latest technology with highest product maturity at lowest costs to VS customers is the key enabler to be competitive to all non-European stationary battery system provider.

What: our objectives in AccCellBaT

Development of the validation plan and product validation regarding stationary storage system. As an OEM of stationary storage systems there is high experience in the development process and needs. Varta already has multiple products on the market with close link to Varta cell development. The experience thereof is brought into the project regarding validation plans and product validation with specific focus on the stationary battery storage system.

Statement

New business models & regulations will significantly change the future customer requirements for ESS. Digital development tools are the enabler for tailor-made engineering solutions.
